Critical Illness Insurance

All UK employees can opt in to Critical Illness Cover. Cover is provided by Canada Life. The policy pays out a lump sum of 2 x salary if an employee suffers one of a list of critical illnesses such as cancer, heart attack or stroke. Critical Illness Cover is a taxable benefit which means thoughtbot pays for the cover but individuals pay the tax (usually at 40%) on the cost of the cover.
