Nigeria Benefits

The Employer of Record, Remote, is finalizing the contract terms for Nigeria. Details to the benefits in Nigeria will be updated in the near future. In addition to country-specific benefits, Shared Benefits are available to all employees.

Vacation Time

Employees accrue 20 days of vacation per year. Your vacation accrual increases to 25 days per year on your third anniversary at thoughtbot.

Sick Time

Employees accrue 12 days of sick time per year.

Parental Leave

You are eligible for both paid and unpaid parental leave after the birth or adoption of a child. The paid and unpaid leave can be combined for up to 6 months of parental leave. thoughtbot provides 6 weeks paid time off for all new parents.

You may use available sick days or vacation days after the 6 weeks of parental leave paid by thoughtbot. After exhausting paid options, you may take unpaid parental leave for the remainder of the 6 months.

In Nigeria birthing parents are entitled to 12 weeks of leave paid at 50% of their average salary. Birthing parents may begin taking leave six weeks prior to their due date. This is inclusive of the 6 weeks of thougthbot parental leave, and the first 6 weeks after birth will be topped off at 100%.

Bereavement Leave

Employees may take up to 5 paid days off for the death of someone close. We understand the deep impact that death can have on an individual or a family, so if you need more than 5 days off, you can also use your accrued paid time off, or unpaid time off.
